HOUSING & COMMUNITY SERVICES

The council ensures provision of sound health services, it fulfils its mandate of providing a healthy environment to citizens through programs aimed at empowering residents through their involvement in good health promotion activities encouraging residents to adopt healthy lifestyles. The Municipality of Gwanda also provides and maintains health service infrastructure and continues to promote staff development in a bid to provide affordable and adequate health services to residents. In Gwanda town there are four health centers and one provincial hospital. One of these belong to the local authority and the rest belongs to the Ministry of Health and Child welfare.

The local authority owns three schools (Jahunda pry school and senondo pry school) and one secondary school ( Gwanda High School) in support of the education system of Zimbabwe.

the local authority has built houses in Gwanda which are rented out to provide accommodation for residents and at the same time induce revenue for the council.

these are electrified shops meant for business and they are under the supervision of Housing and Community services department. Members of the community who wish to do business are free to apply for them. 

these are electrified and furnished kitchens which are owned by the Municipality of Gwanda. They are offered as rentals to individuals who are  disadvantage, old aged, and unemployed to sustain their lives. The environmental health section will then do follow ups to ensure that the environment and food prepared is conducive for humans.

these are council properties found within the community. Members of the community who wish to conduct functions for example weddings, church services amongst others are free to make arrangements with our housing and community services department at a negotiable and affordable price.

 The Jahunda Ultra High cultural village was built for recreational purposes and so that the residence can advertise their cultural clothing and food stuffs to portray our culture.

to provide the residents of Gwanda or non-residence a venue for different occasions like Government gatherings and many more at affordable hire charges
